8/1/2008: Kristin Alexander at the office of the Attorney General quickly got back to me on this. She says she can’t conform nor deny that there is an investigation going on.
Many states Atty Generals are chasing after the culprits (UBS, Merrill) who pushed toxic Auction Rate Securities on an unsuspecting public. New York and Massachusetts are being extremely aggressive in getting results for their citizens who have millions in now inaccessible assets. It’s all over the Wall Street Journal.
I poked around the Office of the Attorney General’s Web site and can’t find a thing about it. Searched the press release page, and even asked google to scan the entire site. Nothing(?) Does anyone have any info about this?
